NPAC is a suite of parallel compression algorithms designed for real-time big data and HPC applications

NPAC is a suite of GPU accelerated compression algorithms designed to accelerate networking, storage and processing for HPC and big data applications. NPAC includes accelerated video, image and audio compression algorithms in addition to new lossless compression algorithms suitable for noisy machine-generated floating point data that has traditionally been difficult to compress efficiently by other means.

The NPAC compression suite can easily be added to NSULATE based storage solutions. It is well suited to keep up with high performance SSD based storage devices. In server environments NPAC can be configured to use enterprise grade GPUs, but in client environments like workstations ordinary consumer GPU’s are powerful enough to compress and stream any data an individual workstation is capable of producing in real-time.
